| This was the first New Year's Eve for South Austin Aikido and what a wonderful way to celebrate with a special New Year’s Eve practice. Thank you Violina Rindova for highlighting this very special tradition to our Aikido community.
Toshi Koshi Geiko is an opportunity to end one year and begin the following year by focusing on the betterment of oneself and the world through Aikido. This practice often includes special ceremonies to evoke harmony, purification, and community. Whether ceremonies are involved or not, the New Year’s Eve practice is an opportunity to honor these values, our aikido community, and our beloved martial art.
We had six members on the mat for this special 60-minute class that started at 11:30PM on 12/31/06 and ended 12:30AM on 1/1/07. Each of us shared a technique and/or principle during this special class, making it a truly wonderful event for us all, and the perfect way to start the New Year!
